De-industrialization, over-leveraging in commercial banking, over-expansion in commercial real estate, the baby boomer spending crash, permanent job loss, financial fraud, a disastrous housing market, record foreclosures, reckless monetary policy, excessive deficits and an unsustainable debt system will force us into a continued economic collapse.

    You do not need to …
    You do not need to look further from the fact that 3million of the richest and most educated Americans leave USA for good each and every year.
    No country can sustain that level of drain on both capital and brains.
    You do not have to be bright to understand that the future is bleak for USA.
    it is obvious when you understand the level of drain on the top tier of society.

    @guslingus That is …
    @guslingus That is why oil production will decline and not collapse. You have to remember that oil prices are set by eroei (energy return on energy invested). That is why some oil is producible at 10/bl and some at 150/bl. With low eroei, only very high prices can sustain those projects, but by definition produce less energy.
    Also, there is not vast amounts of oil at 150/bl. EX. People cite the 1t BOE of shale, leaving out the 3:1 eroei and the vast amounts of water and electricity needed.

    @christo930 It will …
    @christo930 It will decline over many years not collapse.
    There are vast areas of oil that become economical at rates above $150 a barrel.
    People will pay. Thats why we have wars..

    You completely …
    You completely forgot about peak oil, which many specialists say has already happened. We will not know for sure when peak oil occurred until there is no more oil, but so far, the trend has been a plateau for a few years and a collapse in production during the next 2-5 years.

    a lot of people …
    a lot of people don’t get this so let me clarify. Alan Turing, very famous for AI, defined a computer, the “turing machine”. Turns out something in nature does what it does, by definition. We call it a ribosome. It turns amino acids into proteins. The program code is a DNA string. YOUR dna string. Get it? See where this is going? We are the factories. Our own bodies. Read up, prepare to gasp in horror at *existing research* and then realize where this is going. Has been FOR YEARS.

    I do see the AI …
    I do see the AI happening, genetic programming. Look it up. It’s practically a DIY project. But the key is mass manufacturing and mass acceptance and mass need. At this point we need AI for sifting through news & finance to locate real dangers & warn us all faster, and locate real fraud. But the mass manufacturing is currently owned, world-wide, by the people who *are the threat*. So, a very dark future may be upon us. Believe me, look at genetic-programming d\oto /rg and you’ll see.

    @LouieArrighi It’s cute how you think government interventionism had positive effect on the GD. If anything FDR’s policies made the depression deeper and more prolonged. He was also the closest thing to a totalitarian life term dictator this country has ever had. Thank HEAVENS his “second bill of rights” never took off.

    Sadly the idea of a …
    Sadly the idea of a major War when faced with a depression isn’t unlikely at all, & yes – WW2 was a direct result of the first depression.

    The fact that the middle class are finally waking up after all these years & realizing they are just as expedable as the poor have been isn’t the scary part, it’s the War without a doubt will inevitably willl soon follow.
