    I think depression …
I think depression is good for you , if you are strong enough to face it. Its shows you are doing something wrong with your life, and that you must change, bi polar is fake, its just someone who wants to be happy but cant be b/c of all the bullshit.

    I’d like to see a …
I’d like to see a forum where people can rattle off Ideas for treatment and cultivation for mental wellness where people can interact, respond—discuss ideas–give input, share ideas—like I’m always putting Ideas up on youtube–but I can never get any input–or it feels like my experiences and ideas that I put up here are just rotting on the vine–no input or responses from anyone–I’d like to see a forum like that on the web–

    I agree with John …
I agree with John Breeding’s perspectives on mental wellness & I agree that “mental illness” isn’t a real illness-nor is it something based in genetics, no biological defects or illness-I believe that peoples’ different characteristics & experiences, & circumstances can contribute to their “not fitting in” or having more particular needs, like some tall people are very happy on the basketball court but a short person may be very unhappy out there with them-but their shortness is not an illness-

    Finally I have …
Finally I have already spilled my guts about my difficulties and life to therapists and they can be helpful to an extent but I worry that some of my information was leaked and fell into the wrong hands–and I just don’t know about how well confidentiality is maintained with many therapists–

    One thing that …
One thing that really bugs me is when people sit there and tell me that I’m gay–when I’m not—though I’m 100 percent pro-gay rights and would be happy to vote for any bill or law, or sign any petition to help or support these movements, I still get bothered when people persistently say I’m gay–Its a personal matter- and people laugh & snicker–”your gay,you are a bear…when you gonna come out etc..” and I’m just not gay–I do yoga & believe gender is a gray & flexible spectrum in all people

    One problem that I …
One problem that I run into –when I talk about the difficult times I had in my life–the first thing dismissive people ask-”oh yeah right,, how was your life so hard?” This question frustrates me because I had a very difficult time in many ways growing up–& to explain it would mean delving into personal matters & trying to describe many different complex aspects & it is something that is too personal, that there isn’t enough time to explain, especially to someone who is skeptical.

    I’m sure that if I …
I’m sure that if I were on the streets I would have a breakdown and be placed into a mental hospital and that I would be force drugged—And I think that is why a lot of people from the lower classes are on these bad medications because they have had breakdowns that are natural reactions to the stresses of poverty–but they don’t have an advocate to say–look at this person’s social circumstances what do you expect? they just have a lot of people tell them to take their meds..

    So they call me …
So they call me coward, or a dangerous threatening person, or they put me down and say what a creep. or who’s this loser? –it really complex & hard to discuss with people -especially people who have their own types of problems & can’t identify & just think I’m a loser or a coward or a person trying to duck responsibility–the worst is when people try to covertly provoke me & that happens from time to time, they do mean spirited things when others aren’t looking that are vexing & meant to upset.

  9. Comment by catgumart — June 6, 2010 at 2:53 pm

    But when I tell …
But when I tell them this–they feel rejected, and upset that they can’t fix me or convince me that I’m “just like everyone else” because I ‘m not i have issues that are particular to me, my body, my chemistry, my person who has lived through my experiences–but people don’t get it and they become angry and discriminate–or some people can really exploit me, I’m really vulnerable to some types of people especially people who like to dominate, those people get real mad when I say no-

    and I can’t be in …
and I can’t be in circumstances that pull me away from my routine that keeps me centered–or place expectations on m,e that I can’t meet–so people think I’m being selfish or aloof–but if i tell them how I am–they say”There is nothing wrong with you,it’s all in your mind, everyone feels that way” and that is nice that they try to consol me but the truth is that I have it to a degree where it interferes with me playing the game at their tempo or under their rules so i gotta be how I am.

    when I get in …
when I get in stressful situations I start laughing for some reason–and I cant help it–When i listen to someone singing or expressing themselves I get so worried that they think I don’t like them that I begin laughing and I can’t control it–unless I pretend to angry–and then people say “what’s wrong?” So I try to be as honest as possible but they never understand and usually react with anger or fear–there is a certain way I have to be to maintain my equilibrium and I can’t

  12. Comment by catgumart — June 6, 2010 at 2:53 pm

I have to say in my …
I have to say in my mind—lately I say–”get out of here” “Who invited you into my mind?” “What right do you have to be here in my mind” Or “don’t you have something better to do–”why don’t you go read people magazine or something..” When extremely disturbing or repetitive thoughts come down the river of consciousness I thin “Stop”- then I say “go” like to skip the thought and hopefully it goes down the stream–When I was at my uncle’s funeral I started laughing uncontrollably—

  13. Comment by catgumart — June 6, 2010 at 2:53 pm

    sometimes it feels …
sometimes it feels to me-with my issues-that someone has access to my brain- like I can pick up their psychic signals-& I have arguments or debates with them–or when I have a sudden unwanted thought that doesn’t represent me-I feel worried that others hear my thought & are now convinced that I represent what my thought was-also I worry that a mischievous clairvoyant could plant a disturbing thought in my brain one of the repetitive disturbing ones I get that really make me discouraged-

  14. Comment by catgumart — June 6, 2010 at 2:53 pm

    It bothers me when …
It bothers me when people trivialize one’s difficulties or particular issues-& don’t give adequate consideration to how individuals are different & have different types of struggles to different degrees-when people say “your like every one else, why should you get special consideration?” I dont like mind games that the Dr.s/therapists can put you through that repeat & keep you second guessing & doubting yourself-they sit/watch you spill your guts & sit detached & skeptical-its like mind torture

    I like laughter and …
I like laughter and outward expression Yoga—then serious, sober and centered Yoga—then 1minute of laughter, and dynamic movement yoga —then one minute of stillness—then 1 minute of laughter etc..intervals of expression exercises to create flexibility of your own expression as well as tolerance of others–also it gives you a reason to be happy or sad or serious if the people around you wont validate or allow you to have these feelings or expressions.

The main things that help me are 1. having time to myself to keep myself together–I get SSI & I use the time to keep myself balanced–Get plenty of sleep, exercise, focus on sanity(to quote Ornette Coleman) keep the stress to a minimum–I have a saying “life is work regardless of employment” so there are challenges all the time-I have time to get the music practice & vigorous physical exercise in also. Try to get quality Intellectual stimulation, try to learn everyday.

Outward expression for me comes through a regular daily music practice—I may start reading complete books on youtube once I figure out how to download videos. I have a hard time getting it across to people how difficult of a time I have–People can be very skeptical and critical–I feel like the only way I could get it across would be to kill myself- but I don’t truly want that- but the pain gets so intense and the world seems so ignorant and antagonistic-

Life is complicated—in my opinion- and it is hard to discuss and difficult to articulate different aspects. I have a very difficult time (depression, anxiety, intrusive thoughts, ruminations & when I get around people I feel like I can’t move or coordinate my own body) and the only things that help me are plenty of sleep, exercise (yoga, jogging, calisthenics, hiking),nutritious food, learning and quality intellectual stimulation, and last but not least outward self expression.

I love John Breeding. His t-shirt with the one word ‘hope’ on it cracked me up though. I can imagine this guy being a hippie in his younger days.

    “carpet bombing” …
“carpet bombing” with meds takes all the good things out with it. It’s horrific and so many doctors are satisfied with the existance the patient is left with. Personal responsibility is probably you’re only way to the other side of all this since most doctors will sentance you to a “managed” state and send you on your way with your diagnosis, prescriptions and next appt reminder card. Great vids- thank you for sharing!

    Bias works like …
Bias works like loud noise overwhelming all other sound, but it is also has an element of denial going on, (as in good lies or good murder). When i was a small child i found adult to be nearly uniformly psychotic in in wishing to express their status by making up a rule or accusation of breaking a rule and then threaten your life. i know,.. it all supposed to come out in the wash water, but it never does.

    People tend to be …
People tend to be more psychotic when interacting in hierarchies. It is where mercy and empathy or not competitive traits and are not welcome there. People tend to pride themselves on riding a hierarchal or psychotic bias. i know there are supposed to be difinable difference between psychotic leaders and garden variety. The difference is status level and the psychotic leader are doing their duties.
